Hi there!

Ready for the next exciting installment of our slipper escapade?

*(Note, the italics don’t mean anything special, it’s just that I’ve got a new computer, I pressed something!!!! and now those paragraphs seem to be stuck like that ?!?! Silly me)*

Anyway here goes….

So you have covered one side of the boot with fibers, making sure the fibers extend a bit beyond the edge of the boot, especially at the sole, as this part is wider and the felt needs to be a bit thicker

(I usually add extra fibers to the sole area on each layer just to thicken it up a bit)

Now it’s time to wet the fibers so fold the tule over and cover the boot carefully keeping the fibers in place, then sprinkle the whole thing with you’re hot soapy water and smooth down, give it a little rub to make sure all the fibers are wetted.

Now carefully peel back the tule and dry you’re hands ready to apply the next layer of fibers.

Put them on in the same way as you did the first, but laying in the other direction so they are lying across the other fibers.

When the whole layer is done fold the tule back over and apply water again, then fold over the bubble wrap and apply a bit of soapy water for lubrication so you can massage it (gently) this will help to get the felting process going.

Right, now you are ready to turn the boot over and start the other side.

To do this keep the tule in the folded over position and just flip the whole thing over and then peel back the tule to reveal the other side of the boot. The extra fibers now need to be smoothed around the boot before you start to apply the fibers on this side. (I hope this is making sense….)

Using the fibers that you put aside earlier, repeat what you did for the first side (add two layers)
when you have finished this side flip the boot over and smooth the fibers around the boot. The fibers at the top of the boot can be folded back to keep the opening from being covered.

So now you have two layers of fibers on one boot. but one boot is just as much use as no boots.
So, wrap the first one up in the tule squeeze of some liquid and put to one side, get you’re second piece of tule laid out then repeat the whole thing with boot number two using the fleece which you put aside for it.
that’s all for now…………
Back soon with more exciting slipper installments!!
