Remember some time ago I said I had been invited to have a creative play date with local felter Joni Phippin?
Well last week we got together and had a wonderful day of fun and fiber, with lots of chatting and tea of course!
We worked on two of my sketches and made them into felt pictures.
Here are a few pictures of what I got up to.
Joni had kindly prepared a huge copy of the sketch. We layed it underneath bubble wrap, then worked on top.
I loved the process of layering and laying down the fibers, it was a lot like painting, but backwards……….if that makes any sense to you!
What I mean is we laid the details first, then the surface of the work, then the background.
Here is the final image of the sketch I worked on, I hope joni blogs hers soon. It wasn’t quite finished by the time I had to go, but was looking beautiful. She used some fabulous colours!
I stuck to black and white as I wanted to see how well I could stay true to the original sketch.
I must say that I really love it! I also want to say a big thankyou to Joni for a wonderful day and for kindly sharing her skills and teaching me a new technique.
Thanks Joni you’re a star!
More work from the exhibition coming up this week, stay tuned!
